India Stocks: Political risk will be the top catchword for investors......

Political risk will be the top catchword for investors in India over the next two months as the country moves into full-blown rhetorical election campaign mode. With the last parliament session winding down decision making has come to a standstill in the run up to the national polls in the world’s largest democracy until a new government takes over in May.
This puts to rest any hopes of a quick recovery for an economy that is limping along at its slowest pace in a decade, with growth expected at below 5 per cent for the second consecutive year. The collapse of growth from well over 9 per cent in the Congress-led coalition government’s first term in office is widely expected to dent the fortunes of the ruling alliance in the general elections.
While opinion polls show mounting popular support for the main opposition Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP), led by charismatic but controversial Narendra Modi, he is unlikely to grab a majority in the 543-seat Lok Sabha or the House of People, the main law-making lower house of parliament that decides who forms the government in New Delhi.
The most plausible scenario is a BJP-led alliance taking over the reins, a possibility that would warm the global and domestic investors because of the 63-year-old Modi’s free enterprise credentials in running the state of Gujarat for more than a decade. However, it is foolhardy to predict election verdict in the subcontinent because of powerful and numerous regional groups.

dna edit: Going big in the Middle East....

The Saudi Arabian crown prince and Iranian foreign minister’s visits this week point to the challenges facing India’s new Look Middle East policy
Saudi Arabian Crown Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud’s meeting with the Indian top leadership this week has come at an important juncture in Delhi’s long overdue foreign policy recalibration. Despite India’s considerable economic and strategic stakes in the Middle East, the region has languished in comparative obscurity when it comes to Delhi’s engagement. The heads of mission conference in Bahrain last December, attended by Indian envoys based in the Gulf countries, North Africa and West Asia and chaired by external affairs minister Salman Khurshid, pointed to an attempt to change this with the formulation of a new ‘Look Middle East’ policy. The crown prince’s visit provides pointers as to how this might shake out. And it underlines the difficulties as well, coming as it does in the same week as Iranian foreign minister Javad Zarif’s visit. Saudi Arabia and Iran are rivals in a rapidly shifting calculus of power and influence in a Middle East in turmoil — and balancing them as well as the other players in the region won’t be easy.
But it is crucial nevertheless. Delhi’s failure to engage adequately with the region has always been an oddity given its importance for India’s energy security and trade as well as the vast number of Indian expatriate workers in the Middle East. Out of the 70 per cent or so of its petroleum that the country imports, the Persian Gulf supplies about three-fourths as well as large amounts of its natural gas. The region also hosts about 3.5 million Indian nationals — and of the $69 billion remitted to India in 2012, flows from the Gulf countries accounted for over $30 billion. The trade figures are just as significant; by 2015, trade with the six Gulf Cooperation Council nations is expected to hit $200 billion.
The stakes and challenges now are high and growing higher. On the one hand, Delhi’s engagement with Riyadh, kickstarted in 2006 by King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud’s visit — and furthered this time by a memorandum of understanding on defence cooperation for greater exchange of information and training as well as four agreements to jointly promote and facilitate investments and trade — has the potential to facilitate ties with other nations in the region as well given Saudi Arabia’s influence. On the other, Riyadh has shown a clear interest in courting Islamabad, which could complicate matters — and the sectarian strife expanding from the Syrian conflict could so even more. Riyadh and Tehran, jostling for influence in the region and backing proxies on opposing sides of that conflict, might be inimical to each other, but they are both equally important to Delhi. The external affairs ministry will have to be exceedingly nimble-footed to finesse its Look Middle East policy given these factors.
For this, it must work on identifying long-term objectives — counter-terrorism is as important as energy security and trade here — and formulating a holistic approach for furthering them. It has worked in silos for too long, viewing West Asia and the Gulf region as separate entities and fearing to engage adequately with them given the messy nature of regional politics and fear of domestic political repercussions given India’s Muslim population. It is time to look past those old formulations and go big.

Top US diplomat to visit India for strategic partnership.....

WASHINGTON: A top Obama administration diplomat is travelling to India next week to hold talks with Indian officials in New Delhi, and the private and corporate sector in Bangalore.

"The breadth and quality of our strategic partnership with India attests to the underlying strength and salience of our relations," said Indian-origin US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs, Nisha Biswal in advance of her visit to Bangalore and New Delhi from March 4 to 6.

During her visit Biswal will seek to further broaden and deepen the US-India relationship, which President Barack Obama has called "one of the defining partnerships of the 21st century".

On March 4, Biswal will meet with government and business leaders in Bangalore to discuss India-US joint efforts to foster innovation, increase high-tech and engineering engagement, and strengthen bilateral economic ties.

From Bangalore, Biswal will travel to New Delhi, where she will meet with senior Indian officials to discuss the full range of bilateral and regional issues, including shared defense, security, and economic engagement across the Indo-Pacific corridor, the State Department said.

On March 6, Biswal will deliver remarks on the US-India economic relationship at the American Centre in New Delhi.

"The United States is proud to partner with India on virtually every field of human endeavour, from innovative solutions to poverty and disease to space exploration, from counter terrorism and security cooperation to higher education and people-to-people ties," Biswal said.

"I look forward to discussing these and other issues that are vital to the well-being of our two peoples," she said in a statement.

Google to focus on SMBs in India...

The world's most-used web search engine Google plans to help half a million Small and Medium Businesses (SMBs) in India to go online by the end of next year.
With India set to become second largest internet market in the world overtaking the US by 2015, Google sees India as a key market and is focusing on SMBs, which contribute significantly to its global revenues.
Allan Thygesen, vice president and global head of SMBs for Google Inc, told the media here that the firm has already launched an initiative to give SMBs a cost-effective way to reach out to customers.
"It's a key growth initiative in India, which is the fastest growing market for us among top 20 markets," he said.
Google has already made significant investment in India in terms of increasing the headcount and developing new products to drive the growth in SMBs sector. It is also offering services in English and nine regional languages in India.
Google has 1,200 partners across India to help SMBs manage their businesses online. In the last two years, it enabled 300,000 SMBs to go online. Its premier partners cover 65 cities and this number is expected to go up to 100 this year.
With over 200 million Internet users, India is on its way to become the second largest Internet market in the world after China.
K. Suryanarayana, head of SMBs, Google India, said the surge in affordable smartphone was bringing more users online. The e-commerce industry, which was roughly at $10 billion in 2013 is projected to touch $80-100 billion by 2020.
Out of the 50 million SMBs in India, only five percent have online presence.
"Indian SMBs have been slower to adopt online strategies because of lack of time and understanding of the Internet medium and self service model," he said.
Google helps SMBs to get started online by creating a website, a social page, a mobile ready site and also bring them on Google search, Google maps and on other medium like the YouTube. The SMBs may also track their efforts through Google analytics.
Google has designed products like AdWords Express, that makes it easy for SMBs to run advertising campaigns online.

How To Protect Your Home From Bogus Visitors...

he hardest part of stealing valuables is getting into a house without being seen, finding the money or valuables and then getting out again without getting caught. Wouldn’t it be good if a criminal could get you to invite him in, give him some time to look around and then show him out and wave goodbye? Good for him that is, not for you! Unfortunately some criminals manage to do just that, and they use the bogus caller trick to arrange it. They claim to have some sort of official standing when they come to your door, trick you into letting them in, trick you into leaving them alone for a while, then they walk off with the family jewels or your life savings. This is sometimes called a ‘distraction burglary’.

Distraction Burglary

It is easier to divert your attention if two or more of them work together. A pair of bogus callers will engage you in their trick – for example, a bogus electrician who claims to have been sent by the building secretary will ask you to hold his torch while he gets in to check the wiring. Meanwhile his colleague will ask if it is OK for him to use the toilet, which most people readily agree too. But you are trapped holding the torch in the hall while the electrician pretends to check the wiring which is fine! This is a problem that could potentially affect anyone, though it is more likely to have more serious consequences for the elderly and infirm. Bogus callers take many forms, but they are all intent on a criminal objective. Some of the classic bogus caller tricks and methods are described below. The only effective countermeasure that is available to people is not to let the bogus callers into their home.

Bogus Meter Readers

Pretending to be an electricity or gas meter reader, the bogus caller knocks at your door. They appear to be wearing some sort of official uniform, with a clipboard and a friendly but slightly bored manner and ask where the meter is. Nobody really knows how often the meter reader calls, because they seem to come when they want to, and nobody is surprised to find one on their doorstep. If they have done their research properly they will probably target elderly residents. They shine a torch, write something on a form clipped to their board, thank you and almost as an afterthought ask if they can use the toilet, or maybe ask for drink of water. Whatever they want, it is an excuse to get a chance to look around the house and pocket anything small and valuable. That done they thank the resident again and off they go. The loss is not likely to be discovered for some while, by which time they will be long gone.
Caution: if the suspect caller gives you a phone number to call to check up on them, they might just give you the number of a crooked accomplice who will of course vouch for them. If you have any doubts, get a number for the gas company or electricity company they claim to represent from the telephone book, your last gas or electricity bill or directory enquiries and make an independent check on the caller. If the caller is genuine, they will not mind waiting outside the front door for you to confirm their identity.
Fit and use a door chain – that is, a chain that allows the door to be opened enough to see and talk to callers but which will prevent them from easily pushing their way in. Even if they threaten you and demand that you open the door, they know you can’t take the chain off without closing the door first. If you are suspicious or unhappy about a caller, you should close the door and immediately call the police, ask for assistance then wait for the police to arrive. Do NOT open the door again unless it is a police officer knocking. Confirm that by looking out of the window for a police car and real police uniform.
The blind or disabled can usually arrange for a meter reader to come by appointment, when you could have a relative or carer with you to make sure the meter reader can get in and that they only read the meter while they are there.

Branding & Marketing Tips For The Small & Medium Enterprise...

Here are ten of the most common mistakes:
1. Not thinking analytically.
Too many companies think of branding as marketing or as having a catch phrase or a logo. It is more than simply vying for attention. A brand warrants attention on a consistent basis, and represents something that your customer wants, but does not get, from your competitors. For example, it could be providing the best customer service in your industry — not just through your tagline or logo — but by actually providing the best customer service in your industry.
2. Not maintaining your brand.
Too often, in a shaky economy, businesses are quick to change or alter their identity. Too much of this confuses your steady customers. For guidance, think of big brands: Nike, for instance has used “Just Do It” as a slogan for years. One rule of thumb is that it is when you have become tired of your logo, tagline, or branding efforts, that they begin to sink in with customers.
3. Trying to appease everyone.
You will never be able to brand yourself in such a way that everyone will like you. Typically, the best you can do is to focus on the niche market for your product.
4. Not knowing who you really are.
If you are not the fastest overnight delivery service in the world, do not profess to be. Too many business owners think that they are providing something that they do not provide. Know your strengths and weaknesses through honest analysis of what you do best.
5. Not fully committing to branding.
Often business owners let the marketing and advertising departments handle such things as branding, while others work on sales and other important parts of the business. Sales and branding, however, are tied together as integral aspects of your business. Many Fortune 500 companies are where they are today because smart branding made them household names.
6. Not sharing the joke.
If only the people in your office get a joke, it is not going to play to a large audience. The same holds true for branding. If your campaign is created for you and not “them,” your brand will not succeed.
7. Not having a dedicated marketing plan.
Many companies come up with ideas to market themselves and establish a brand identity but have neither the resources nor a plan for how they will reach their audience. You must have a well-thought-out marketing plan in place before your branding strategy will work.
8. Using too much jargon.
Business-to-business-based companies are most guilty of piling on the jargon. From benchmark to strategic partnering to value added, jargon does not benefit branding. If anything, it muddles your message.
9. Trying too hard to be different.
Being different for the sake of being different is not branding. Yes, you will be noticed, but not necessarily in a way that increases sales.
10. Not knowing when you have them.
Companies that have succeeded in branding need to know when to spend fewer resources on establishing their brand, while continuing to maintain that which they have established. Monitor the results of your branding campaign. If your small business is a local household word, you can spend more time maintaining your professional image.

The duties of private investigators may vary based on their area of specialization. For instance those who specialize in cases related to property theft or copyright violation may just scrutinize and file acts of piracy to provide assistance in barring such illicit activities. Those employed at hotels are assigned an additional task of guarding the guest’s belongings against theft and prohibiting the entry of unsolicited individuals. Armed detectives must possess a permit and fulfill necessary licensing requirement for using a gun. Also they are not equipped with any additional powers to arrest a person unless otherwise stated.

The duties of private investigators may vary from case to case. For instance if an investigator is working on a case related to fraudulent workers compensation claim, he may be required to conduct extensive observation of the subjects. Now, if he figures out that the injuries mentioned in a compensation claim are false then he will have to collate evidences to prove the same.

Many people also get background investigations done for their prospective spouse or for other personal purposes and professional purposes such as before entering into a business partnership etc.

5 Subtle Signs That Your Partner May Be Cheating On You!!!

1. Your Spouse is Always Finding Faults About You
Your spouse does not seem to be happy about you the way you are and is constantly either criticizing you or your looks or your activities. If you find yourself fighting a lot more with him / her then chances are that your spouse  subconsciously does not like you anymore and wants to leave you even though overtly he / she does not intend to. Your spouse now considers the new love interest as the epitome of perfection and you are now being unfavorably compared to the new person thus justifying your spouse’s new found hatred and contempt for you.
The fact that he is openly criticizing your looks or aspects about your life is not something that you should take lying down as such barbs and comments from those that we hold dearest to in our lives can cause irreparable harm to our psyche. You must not dismiss this as a new found quirk about your partner but rather realise that he / she may be having an extra marital affair and it is upto you to now take decisions to confront your spouse armed with proof or go on being treated like a doormat!
2. Your Spouse is Always Cleaning Up Or Has New Items
Your spouse’s car always smells fresh and is devoid of any objects that may signal the fact that he is married and has children. If there is the possibility that your spouse might be going for romantic escapades in the car and because he wants to look perfect to his lover, he will in all probability try to remove any traces of his marital life such as the toys of kids flung around in the backseat or your gym shoes etc.
A new lover will always try to stake a claim to your spouse’s life by gifting him small items every now and then. Pay attention to new items that your spouse might be carrying on him such as pens, magazines, gadgets etc. Though seemingly innocuous, these items may have a more sordid story to tell! And it is in our opinion that you must pay attention to such small details in order to ensure that you are not taken to be a gullible fool by your spouse.
3. Your Spouse Is Suddenly Big on Gifting
Have you heard of the term guilty conscience? Well your spouse may just be suffering from that if he / she is cheating on you! Well, we are not saying that you dont deserve that gift! Of course you are entitled to gifts from your spouse every now, especially on special occasions which you must accept with alacrity. But if you have seen a surge in the number of gifts that are being bestowed upon you for no rhyme or reason and have noticed that the price of the gift is out of line with the occassion, then there is indeed cause for alarm. Your husband might have the feeling that he is compensating the bad feelings that his infidelity is generating within him by showering gifts upon you.  But if you are smart, you will wonder why and get deeper into his motivation.
4. Your Spouse Has Suddenly Become a Fitness Freak
Nothing wrong with realizing that one has become out of shape and taking steps to rectify that. And most men and women as they grow older and become more settled, decide to succumb to the fitness bug which can take the form of yoga, marathons, swimming, working out to the scores of new and exotic fitness options out there. But you must also look at the darker side of this fitness and obsession with preserving one’s beauty and youth. Think back to your own romantic life. Didn’t you take special efforts to look pleasing to members of the opposite sex? Didn’t you hit the gym or the jogging track for a little pre-date workout so that your skin glowed and your stomach seemed a little flatter.
It is natural for humans to desire to look attractive for their partners because remember it all started with your looks (though some may argue) mostly. Most often in healthy marriages, the couple works out together and takes joy in motivating one another and ensuring that both partners stay happily attractive to each other. But if one partner is secretly wanting to do it all alone, there is room for worry. Who knows, your partner may be carrying on an affair with someone from his gym itself! Which is why he doesn’t want you to join his gym! Be aware of such signals all the time.
5. Your Spouse Has Suddenly Acquired New Tastes & Preferences
Your spouse has over the last few months suddenly become a different person altogether – someone you cant recognize anymore! For example, your wife who just couldn’t get music, music artists and different genres of music has now suddenly become an ardent Pearl Jam and Alternative Rock fan! Similarly your husband who was never an avid movie lover or hated anything other than whiskey has now taken a liking to Iranian cinema and fine wine!

Do you suspect your spouse of cheating?..

As private investigators we’re asked to conduct matrimonial investigations on an almost daily basis.
We understand you’re facing a painful and distressing situation.  Our experienced team handle all requests with sensitivity and discretion.
The client below made the very difficult decision to contact us after reading a suspicious text on her husband’s phone.  In her own words and reprinted with permission, our client provided the following testimonial.
“After the painful discovery of a text on my Husband’s phone and realising the possibility that my Husband was conducting a secret affair, I considered engaging the services of an Investigation Company. The daunting prospect of this was overwhelming, as the outcome may not be what I wanted to hear. Coupled with the anxiety of who do you contact and how, and if you do, it also exposes your cherished private life to a stranger. However I could not ignore what I had discovered and made the decision to engage a company to assist me in discovering the truth.
The truth was not good, however the professional, sensitive and expedient manner in which Boothroyds conducted their enquiries, the informative presentation of their results both verbally and in writing made the whole process as painless as it could be.
My complicated circumstances required the use of their services over a lengthy period of time. Boothroyds during this process were engaged by my solicitors for legal reasons, during the course of this lengthy procedure they were never at any time detected, which is a testament once again to their knowledge of their field. Probably the longest undetected surveillance operation conducted on behalf of an individual.
It is without hesitation that I commend Boothroyds for their professionalism, integrity and humanity during the most upsetting and stressful time. Furthermore their compassion, care and empathic manner is something I will never forget.”

Surveillance investigators!!!

Surveillance investigators

Professional surveillance investigators are highly trained.  Our investigators are trained to nationally approved standards. Part of our training is to avoid being detected and instead secure the evidence you need to solve your problem.

When conducting a surveillance investigation we often use more than one investigator and each is equipped with state of the art recording and communications equipment.

This equipment includes:

  • High definition video cameras
  • Covert video and audio recording devices
  • Professional long range cameras
  • GPS satellite navigation
  • Hands free encrypted communications
All of this means that we can follow the person in question without losing track of them or arousing suspicion.

Where necessary we can continue surveillance on foot and use our equipment to get up close and personal and to pick up conversations in crowded locations.

3 Tips To Cheat-Proof Your Marriage

  1. Be an active listener: Stop what you're doing. Really hear your partner and when they feel understood that will go a long way in helping the two of you feel validated as individuals and as a couple.
  2. Have a couples play date: With our kids, we see the importance in creating and keeping fun in a relationship. Invest the same fun factor into your marriage: Dance around the kitchen, or if you can't go on a date, create space where you can re-energize your relationship and just have fun together.
  3. Stay curious about your spouse: Remember in the beginning when you asked so many questions about one another? Of course as a relationship/marriage progresses we get lazy -- and we assume we know what partner is feeling and thinking. But like any relationship or friendship, if you stop engaging in conversation, asking questions and really connecting with that other person, the relationship will simply cease to be vital. Our marriages are subject to the same issues, they are not made of reinforced steel. They too will crumble if we are not constantly nourishing them... so STAY curious about your spouse!

Important elements of the good life.....

1. Meaningful Productivity. We have a built in desire to be productive in a meaningful way. Yes, a good life includes time for relaxation and reflection, but it is not centered around those things. The things we do on vacation are very enjoyable, but doing them full time is not the key to a good life. Life needs balance, and productivity gives us a sense of accomplishment and value that we can’t get from laying on the beach for months on end.
2. Meaningful Relationships. Good friends and close companions are an important part of a happy life. It doesn’t really matter if you are a social butterfly or a private person, everyone needs to be able to truly relate to one or more other people. It’s the quality of our relationships that fills this need, not the quantity. If you have a mate, hopefully they are also your best friend. Being able to share our deepest thoughts, feelings, hopes and concerns helps affirm and define our own existence.
3. Spiritual Awareness. Whether we recognize it or not, each of us has a spiritual need.  But only those who are actually conscious that they have this need will take the necessary steps to fill it. Recognizing that we have a need is what motivates to us to search for a way to enrich our life by satisfying that need. We couldn’t really call it a good life if it wasn’t also a happy life and a big part of  happiness comes from finding a way to fill the spiritual void.
4. Mental Health. The human mind loves to learn. We were endowed with incredible potential for learning new things. Not only does learning help us to gain new knowledge and insights, but it also brings a renewed sense of excitement to our lives. A life that is static and intellectually unchallenging can quickly become boring. Learning keeps our minds active and alert which helps prevent mental atrophy. You know the old saying, use it or lose it. We should also exercise discretion with regard to what we learn. Not all knowledge is beneficial. The quality of our life is directly influenced by what we focus on. When it comes to learning, stick with topics that add value to your life and avoid anything that might undermine your personal standards or taint your views.
5. Stay Healthy. Never take your health for granted. The quality of your life will suffer dramatically if you lose your health. Always give adequate attention to your physical self. That means getting regular exercise and quality nutrition. It also means maintaining a reasonable approach to things like alcohol and caffeine. Remember, balance is a common denominator here. Overindulgence of food and or alcohol can quickly destroy the quality of your life, so be reasonable.
6. Keep Money in its Place. We already acknowledged that money can make life more comfortable and less stressful. But putting too much emphasis on making money can destabilize the other areas of life. Don’t be a slave to money. You can’t buy meaningful relationships, good health, spirituality or good mental health. Money is not the most important thing in life so keep it in its place.
7. Cultivate a Kind and Caring Disposition. A self-centered life is not a satisfying experience. The more you work to add value to the lives of others, the more rewarding your own life will be. Reinforce this by cultivating an attitude of gratitude. The more you do this, the more you will have in your life to be grateful for. Adding value and being grateful will counteract unwanted selfish tendencies.

10 Tips for a Happy Marriage....

Here are some things you can do to help build a strong marriage.

1. Watch Your Relationships. To preserve your determination to make your marriage succeed. If you do, in the back of your mind, you might begin to view them as alternatives in the event that your marriage doesn't work out. This will weaken your resolve. After all, why work so hard when you have an escape route? Also, these types of close relationships are likely to make your spouse feel threatened.

2. Pay Full Attention. Listen to your spouse when he or she talks to you. It’s a sign of respect. Try to give him or her your undivided attention. Also, nod in agreement occasionally—it tells your partner you’re listening. If your spouse talks to you when you’re in the middle of something important, say so, and suggest a time when you’ll be able to pay full attention.

3. Share Enjoyable Activities. Do fun things with your spouse. Exercise together, take leisurely walks, or share a pursuit that’s mutually enjoyable. Such activities strengthen your relationship and make it easier for the two of you to endure the hard times that come in every marriage.

4. Learn from Your Experiences. Learn from the past. For example, if you find that you’re often tense when you’re very hungry, minimize your conversation with your spouse during those times. Similarly, if you see that your spouse gets worked up whenever you mention the name of a certain relative, don’t mention that person’s name unless absolutely necessary. Try to learn from the past.
5. Be Polite. Be courteous to your spouse. When speaking with him or her, use phrases such as “please,” “thank you,” “would you mind if I….,” and so forth. It will make your spouse feel appreciated and respected.
6. Never Say “I Told You So.” Remove the phrase “I told you so” from your lexicon. Saying these words only causes ill will between you and your spouse.

Three ways to handle an unhappy marriage!!!

The marriages that got happier fell into three broad approaches: the marital work ethic, the marital endurance ethic, and the personal happiness epic.

  1. In the marital work ethic, spouses actively work to solve problems, change behavior, or improve communication. When the problem is solved, the marriage gets happier. Strategies for improving marriages range from arranging dates or other ways to spend more time together, to enlisting the help and advice of relatives or in-laws, consulting clergy or secular counselors, or even threatening divorce and consulting divorce attorneys.
  2. In the marital endurance ethic, by contrast, spouses don’t solve problems with concerted action on the part of either spouse. Stated another way, you don’t “work” on an unhappy marriage; instead, you endure it. “Just keep putting one foot in front of the other” because with the passage of time, things get better. Job situations improve, children get older or better, or chronic ongoing problems get put into new perspective.
  3. Finally, in the personal happiness epic, marriage problems don’t seem to change that much. Instead, you find alternative ways to improve your own happiness and build a good and happy life despite a mediocre marriage. This often contains elements of both the marital work ethic and the marital endurance ethic approaches as well.
